Responsibilities

Purpose:  The supervisor assists in the management of all Transcription, Switchboard and Afterhours operations. The Supervisor has primary responsibility for the daily management of all transcription, switchboard and afterhours processes. This includes direction of staff in programmatic operations needed to assure compliance with quality standards and regulations established by the Medical Center. Customer satisfaction includes maintaining excellent customer service measured through job performance and department service levels. The supervisor will also assist in the development of job descriptions, postings, and hiring, as well as oversee the orientation and training of new staff assuring compliance with departmental policies and operations. They will interact with various departments to ensure expectations are defined and met. The supervisor will assist with managing and staffing a 24/7 shop (Switchboard & Afterhours). This includes being available as first line of contact during the weekday nights and the second line of contact on the weekends to assist with staffing issues or escalated issues from operators.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Leads and provides day-to-day supervision to the Transcription and Switchboard and Afterhours operations and its employees in order to meet established team and individual goals.
  • Supervises assigned staff including but not limited to hiring, training, supervising, employee engagement, performance management, and setting expectations, scheduling, and approving payroll.  Aligns with management on coaching, disciplinary action, and performance improvement planning utilizing direct and open communication, in order to address violations of policy and/or poor behavior or performance.
  • Assists in managing and staffing a 24/7 switchboard & afterhours, including being a first line of contact during weekday nights and second line of contact for weekends.  Flexibility in shift will also be required based on staffing.
  • Ability to perform functions using job-related software and systems.
  • Attendance, promptness, professionalism, the ability to pay attention to detail, cooperativeness with co-workers and supervisors, and politeness to customers, vendors, and patients.
  • Travel to satellite locations and clinic sites may be necessary to perform job duties
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications

RequirementsAssociate degree in business administration or healthcare field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Demonstrated ability to lead others either formally or informally. Previous experience working in a Call Center environment and or with Electronic Medical Records preferred but not required. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work in self-directed manner while interacting with patients, physicians and all medical center faculty and staff. Ability to communicate and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills required.

 

Preferences:  Familiarity with OSUWMC and its entities preferred

Pay Range

USD $23.37 - USD $35.06 /Hr.
