Responsibilities

Performs diagnostic vascular & sonographic examinations, utilizing ultrasonic equipment in various modes and techniques, to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical pathological, and functional data of the cardiovascular systems.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Performs diagnostic (2D, and color flow Doppler), vascular (venous, arterial, and/or carotids) and stress ultrasound examinations.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of clinical indications.
  • Detects malfunctions and disease states of patients’ hearts and vasculature determining anatomy variability from patient-to-patient to use the instrument settings required to obtain technically satisfactory image.
  • Makes permanent recording of findings, per protocol, for analysis and interpretation based on the disease state of the patient presented for testing.
  • Provides clear, concise, and accurate documentation as needed.
  • Provides education to the patient and/or family.
  • Consults with physician regarding preliminary findings prior to the physician’s interpretation, including special considerations and measurements. Contacts covering physician if urgent findings are present.
  • Follows current standard and practice guidelines to maintain lab accredited. Maintains policy and procedure manual.
  • Manages the patient QA program, utilizing equipment to its’ fullest for information, and utilizing quality improvement methods effectively to address any problematic areas.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Vascular Ultrasound, Cardiac Sonography or related field. 
  • ARDMS and RVT certification and 2-4 years of previous vascular ultrasound experience. 
  • BCLS certification. 
  • Knowledge of ICAVL accreditation requirements. 
  • Knowledge of, and ability to, accurately assess coronary circulation and vascular anatomy. 
  • Thorough understanding of diagnostic indications and applications of vascular ultrasound.  
  • Knowledge of patient assessment and evaluations. 
  • Ability to utilize equipment QA programs to its fullest and to utilize and quality improvement methods.

Pay Range

USD $34.22 - USD $51.33 /Hr.
