Our Human Resource Department is looking for an HR Specialist to help support our benefits team! The role offers a hybrid schedule: Monday - Wednesday in office, Thursday and Friday - work from home.

Responsibilities

Purpose: The Total Rewards Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of employee benefits, compensation, leave of absence programs, and workplace accommodations. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant processing of requests while delivering high-quality service to employees and internal stakeholders. The specialist plays a key role in supporting employee well-being, maintaining regulatory compliance, and contributing to the organization’s overall total rewards strategy.

 

Benefits Administration

  • Ensure accurate benefits enrollment and documentation in the HR system.
  • Review employment and life status changes to apply appropriate benefit adjustments.
  • Coordinate with OSU on health benefits, dependent verification, and loss of coverage.
  • Conduct new hire benefit orientations and assist with enrollment.
  • Maintain and distribute benefit materials (e.g., flyers, webpages, open enrollment info).
  • Manage disability claims, retirement loans, hardship requests, and tuition reimbursements.
  • Administer wellness programs and paid parental leave.
  • Support ADA accommodations and maintain related documentation in HRIS.
  • Lead open enrollment sessions and process benefit changes.
  • Collaborate with OSU and wellness partners to maintain programs.
  • Respond to employee and manager benefit inquiries and resolve claim issues.
  • Handle workers’ compensation claims and liaise with BWC.
  • Monitor ACA compliance and assist with 1095 preparation.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit invoices with payroll and finance.

Leave & Accommodations

  • Process FMLA and other leave requests, ensuring completeness and compliance.
  • Administer FMLA cases, communicate with leadership, and manage timecards.
  • Maintain communication with employees on leave and coordinate return-to-work.
  • Advise on leave interactions with PTO, disability, and workers’ comp.
  • Manage ADA accommodation requests and maintain confidential records.
  • Stay current on FMLA, ADA, and related laws.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Compensation

  • Participate in and analyze market surveys to ensure competitive pay.
  • Conduct annual job classification reviews and salary range assessments.
  • Benchmark new roles and maintain compensation tools and guides.
  • Support compensation-related training for leadership.
  • Manage annual merit, pay, and bonus programs.
  • Analyze compensation data and trends; prepare reports and models.
  • Maintain HRIS compensation data and pay records.
  • Process bulk pay adjustments and manage additional pay programs.
  • Support leadership with ad hoc compensation analysis and maintain compensation philosophy.

Qualifications

Requirements:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field of study; or combination of equivalent education and work experience.  
  • Minimum of one year of experience in HR, with prior experience in benefits, compensations, leave and accommodations.

Preferences:

  • SHRM Certification

Pay Range

USD $26.24 - USD $39.36 /Hr.
